British PM proposes blocking social media sites to stop riots 15.08.2011
News that the British Government may shut down social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter to prevent further riots and looting has not gone over well with freedom of speech of groups.
In a statement to Parliament, British Prime Minister David Cameron linked the use of social media with the organisation of riots across England last week.

تغريم مبارك ونظيف والعادلي 540 مليون جنيه عن قطع الاتصالات خلال الثورة

قضت محكمة القضاء الإداري بمجلس الدولة في جلستها المنعقدة اليوم السبت، برئاسة نائب رئيس مجلس الدولة المستشار حمدي ياسين، بإلزام الرئيس السابق حسني مبارك ورئيس الوزراء الأسبق أحمد نظيف ووزير الداخلية الأسبق حبيب العادلي، بأداء تعويضات قدرها 540 مليون جنيه لصالح الخزانة العامة للدولة وذلك لقيامهم بقطع خدمات الاتصالات المحمولة خلال أحداث الثورة.
وألزمت المحكمة مبارك ونظيف والعادلي بدفع ذلك المبلغ بالتضامن فيما بينهم على أن يدفعوه من مالهم الخاص، في ضوء ما تسببوا به من أضرار بخطئهم الشخصي لحقت بالاقتصاد القومي في قطاع خدمات الاتصالات والانترنت.
وقامت المحكمة بتوزيع مبلغ التعويض على الثلاثة بالزام العادلي بدفع 300 مليون جنيه ومبارك 200 مليون جنيه ونظيف 40 مليون جنيه.

من منطلق حبى لبلدى ولأهلى الشرفاء المصريين أقباطا ومسلمين، قمت بزيارة لمصر منذ بداية الشهر الجارى، استمرت ثلاثة أسابيع كاملة، كانت مملوءة بالاجتماعات والمقابلات علاوة على التواجد شبه اليومى أمام مبنى ماسبيرو معلناً استنكارى للأعمال الإرهابية التى حدثت فى إمبابة كحرق الكنيسة وعدد من بيوت الأقباط المجاورة والتنكيل بجثة حارس الكنيسة بعد قتله بالرصاص بسكب البنزين عليه وتفحيم جثته، كانت الزيارة مشحونة بالمقابلات منها على سبيل المثال من رجال الدولة:

Hundreds of Egyptians have staged an unprecedented show of online defiance against their country's military leadership, taking to their blogs to write at times scathing critiques of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) that assumed power after longtime president Hosni Mubarak stepped down in February.
The show of anger on Monday came ahead of a "million-man" protest that activists have called for Friday, one they hope will be the largest since the revolution and will demonstrate widespread public support for their call to put former government officials on trial and restrain the power of the armed forces.

مفوضى الدولة توصى بإلزام مبارك ونظيف بدفع تعويضات لقطعهما الإنترنت

أوصت هيئة مفوضى الدولة بإلزام كل من حسنى مبارك الرئيس المخلوع، وأحمد نظيف رئيس الوزراء الأسبق، وحبيب العادلى وزير الداخلية الأسبق، وطارق كامل وزير الاتصالات الأسبق، بدفع التعويض الذى تقدره المحكمة لخزينة الدولة عن الأضرار المادية التى لحقت بالاقتصاد الوطنى، بسبب قطعهم الاتصالات وشبكة الإنترنت أثناء ثورة 25 يناير، وقررت محكمة القضاء الإدارى برئاسة المستشار حمدى ياسين عكاشة حجز الدعوى للحكم فيها بجلسة 28 مايو الجارى، مع السماح بتقديم أوراق ومذكرات خلال يومين.

وطلب محمد عبد العال المحامى مقيم الدعوى من المحكمة بإصدار حكمها، وتخصيص التعويض الذى تقدره المحكمة لإقامة مؤسسة أهلية تعمل على تطوير التعليم والبحث العلمى.

"اليوم السابع" يومية بعد الثورة

لا شك أن موقع "اليوم السابع" حقق عبر سنوات وجوده نقلة نوعية ومهنية فى طبيعة متابعة الأخبار فور وقوعها، ويحسب لفريق العمل الدؤوب فى "اليوم السابع" وأغلبه من الشباب، متابعته لأغلب ما يحدث ونقله للقارئ.

ولكن هل تتطلب الأحداث فى مصر صدور جريدة يومية جديدة؟ ومع ما حققه الموقع من تميز ونجاح لا تخطئه العين تجرى، الاستعدادات على قدم وساق لإطلاق جريدة "اليوم السابع" بصورة يومية، بعد عشرة أيام من الآن، ومصر بها الآن عشرة صحف يومية، وعدد كبير من الصحف والمجلات الأسبوعية العامة والمتخصصة، وهناك وجهتى نظر، الأولى ترى أن الصحف والمطبوعات الورقية فى اتجاهها للانزواء وترك الساحة خالية أمام التليفزيون والصحف الإليكترونية، وهناك رأى آخر يرى أنه مهما نجحت الصحف الإليكترونية فى جذب القارئ، فلن تستطيع أن تحل محل الصحف الورقية.

A year or two ago, many people in North America had likely never heard of the Al Jazeera network — or if they had, they probably thought of it as an Arabic TV channel that was primarily devoted to demonizing the West. Thanks in part to the uprisings in Tunisia and Egypt and Libya over the past six months, however, millions more have not only heard of the network but turned to it for the authoritative version of events in those countries. And a big part of the network’s success is due to Tony Burman, the former head of the CBC who joined the network in 2008 and is now head of strategy for Al Jazeera in The Americas.
