AS PEOPLE watch to see what sort of country Egypt will become after this week’s elections, they should keep an eye on a shy-mannered but ruthlessly determined young man called Maikel Nabil. His views, boldly disseminated across cyber-space, are unlikely to win agreement from more than a handful of his compatriots. He is a self-declared atheist, a pacifist, a supporter of better relations with Israel and holds liberal opinions on social issues.

صرح مصدر مسئول بسلطة الطيران المصرى بأن السلطة وقعت غرامة قدرها 50 ألف جنيه على الطائرة الأمريكية المدنية الخاصة من طراز "دي سي3"التى أقلت على متنها المتهمين فى قضية التمويل الأجنبى لعدم حصولها على الموافقات المسبقة واللازمة للهبوط بمطار القاهرة.

كشف مسئول مصرفى بارز، بأحد البنوك المحلية الكبرى، فى تصريحات خاصة لـ"اليوم السابع"، عن أن البنوك المحلية تتحقق وتراجع حالياً كافة التراخيص الممنوحة لمنظمات المجتمع المدنى والجمعيات الأهلية ومنظمات حقوق الإنسان، والخاصة بتلقى التبرعات والمعونات من الدول والمؤسسات الخارجية، والتى قدرتها بعض الجهات المحلية الرسمية بنحو مليار جنيه، مؤكداً أنها تخضع لرقابة صارمة من قبل البنك المركزى المصرى، ووحدة مكافحة غسل الأموال التابعة له.

I am writing this note with a deep sense of shame. I have just been moved from Tora Investigative [jail], at my request and insistence, because I simply couldn’t withstand the difficult conditions there: because of the darkness, the filth , the roaming cockraoches, crawling over my body night and day; because there was no courtyard, no sunshine, but especially the darkness.

Thousands gathered on Monday in downtown Cairo's Talaat Harb Square demanding the release of Alaa Abd El-Fatah, one of Egypt's most well-known bloggers and political activists, and expressing support for his decision to refuse to be questioned by the military prosecution on the grounds that it had no business interrogating civilians.

Alaa Abd El Fattah, a prominent blogger and activist, will be held for 15 days of military interrogation, his lawyer said on Sunday. Meanwhile, Bahaa Saber, another activist and blogger, has been released but is still under investigation. Abd El Fattah was called into the military prosecution office for questioning regarding his involvement in the clashes between mostly Coptic protesters and the military on 9 October in which 28 people were killed. Abd El Fattah is accused of assaulting military personnel, stealing machine guns that belong to the armed forces, and inciting violence against the military, his lawyer, Ahmed Saif al-Islam said.

أعلن القائمون على جائزة الصحفية الروسية والناشطة في ميدان حقوق الإنسان أنا بوليتكوفسكايا، الجمعة عن منح الجائزة، في الذكرى الخامسة لمقتل الصحفية هذا العام، للناشطة السورية رزان زيتونة. ونقلت وكالة الأنباء الروسية (نوفوستي) عن اللجنة قولها إن اختيار زيتونة البالغة من العمر 34 عاماً "يعود لما عانته من تخفٍ ومعاناة بعد أن اتهمتها السلطات في سوريا بالتجسس للغرب، وذلك على خلفية مقالات كتبتها ونشرتها على صفحات الإنترنت حول بشاعة العنف الممارس ضد المحتجين في البلاد".
وتحوّل الموقع الإلكتروني لرزان واسمه (شيريل) إلى أحد المصادر الأساسية للأخبار حول ما يدور من أحداث وقمع للمظاهرات في سوريا، بعد أن حظرت السلطة على وسائل الإعلام الأجنبية الوصول إلى ساحات الأحداث.

CAIRO, Sept 24 (Reuters) - Egypt deported a French journalist on Saturday who had been placed on a banned list for allegedly insulting the country, security sources said.They identified the journalist as Marie Edmee Josette Duboc and said she was held at Cairo's airport terminal after flying in from Paris on Friday evening when officials found her name on a list of people banned from entering the country."The journalist had deliberately tried to discredit Egypt," one security source said without giving any further details."Thus, she had been put on the list of those banned from entry. She and her child were treated well during their stay at the airport until her flight took off back to Paris," the source added. (Reporting by Sami Aboudi; Editing by Tim Pearce)
رغم أن الاحتجاجات العمالية لا تزال متواصلة في مصر، فإن رد العسكر على هذه الاحتجاجات يشمل ترهيب المضربين

منعت السلطات المصرية صحفية فرنسية من دخول البلاد بدعوى أن اسمها موضوع في قوائم المتهمين بالإساءة إلى مصر، لكنها في الحقيقة تنشط في مجال الدفاع عن العمال المصريين. وذكرت مصادر أمنية أن الصحفية وتسمى ماري إدمي جوزيت دوبوك، احتجزت في مطار القاهرة الدولي. ووصلت دوبوك إلى مطار القاهرة على متن طائرة قادمة من باريس مساء أمس الأول الجمعة، لكن مسؤولي المطار اكتشفوا أن اسمها موجود في قائمة الممنوعين من دخول مصر.

وتداول مشاركون على الموقع صورة لبيان أعده أحد المستخدمين على غرار بيانات القوات المسلحة، يرد فيه على بيان المجلس الذي نشره على صفحته بالموقع نفسه قبل دقائق من موعد الإفطار.

U.S. expresses concern over anti-Americanism in Egypt

The United States on Wednesday expressed concern over the anti-American sentiment in Egypt, calling it "unfair.", Xinhua reported.
"Let me say with regard to this kind of anti-Americanism that's creeping into the Egyptian public discourse, we are concerned," State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said.
"We have expressed these concerns to the Egyptian government," she told reporters at a regular press briefing.
She was responding to a press report carried by the Wall Street Journal, which said that the ruling Egyptian military is increasingly portraying pro-democracy activists as spies and saboteurs, blaming the country's economic crisis and sectarian strife on foreign infiltrators, and blasting the U.S. for funding agents of change.

ربما ليس أنفع للإعلامى، فى ممارسته عمله، من الاهتداء بقوله صلى الله عليه وسلم: «كفى بالمرء كذباً أن يُحدّث بكل ما سمع»، ففى هذا القول الكريم ما يرسى القاعدة الأهم بين قواعد العمل الإعلامى على مر الأزمنة، آلا وهى قاعدة التثبت قبل نقل الخبر، بما تنطوى عليه من فرز موضوعى لما نسمعه، مهما بدا صادقاً، ومن توثق من صحته قبل أن نذيعه على الناس.
فالإعلامى عادة يحصل على الأخبار، الكاذب منها والصادق، فإن لم يتثبت، وأذاع الكاذب منها من دون توثق، فقد كذب، والكذب هو الإخبار عن الشىء على غير ما هو عليه، وإن لم يكن متعمداً، والتعمد هو فقط شرط الإثم، لكن صفة الكذب ستلحق بمن نقل ما لم يتم التثبت من صحته، وهنا يكون نقل الكفر بمنزلة الكفر ذاته.click here to read the article
