Matthew VanDyke, a freelance journalist from Baltimore who had been missing in Libya since March, was released from Tripoli’s notorious Abu Salim prison on Wednesday, according to his mother, whom he talked to on a borrowed Libyan cellphone.

Libya expels Reuters journalist, accuses news agency of deliberate anti-government bias

A government spokesman says Libya has expelled a Reuters journalist because of what he says is anti-government bias by the international news agency. Spokesman Moussa Ibrahim says the British correspondent, Nick Carey, was asked to leave Wednesday. Ibrahim says the reason was that the agency has been “deliberately anti-Libyan government” in its reporting.
