Other Reuters journalists remained in the capital, Tripoli, where foreign reporters operate under government restrictions.
Ibrahim says Carey wasn’t expelled for a specific story. He says the government acted after Reuters’ reporting “for over a month and a half.” Carey arrived in Tripoli two and a half weeks ago.
Reuters did not immediately return calls seeking comment.
