Much has been written about the tragic deaths of Sunday Times journalist Marie Colvin, French photographer Remi Ochlik and other reporters who have died since the Arab uprisings began.
But what about the citizen journalists who have been killed before and since Colvin and Ochlik?
How many people armed with a camera lens or mobile phone to bring the world images from Syria, Libya, Egypt, Tunisia and elsewhere have been killed?

A Syrian state news channel accuses the dead martyrs, American journalist Marie Colvin and French photographer Remi Ochlik, of being either terrorists, army spies, or foriegn intelligence. They also state that they are the true "democratic" nation.

Satphones, Syria, and Surveillance

Yesterday morning, journalist Marie Colvin of the Sunday Times of London was killed, along with French photographer Rémi Ochlik, in the beseiged city of Homs, Syria, where more than 400 people have been reported dead in recent weeks.
Disturbingly, the Telegraph, the Toronto Globe and Mail, and the Associated Press all reported that Colvin and Ochlik were likely deliberately killed by the Syrian army and their location may have been tracked down through their satellite phones.
